Manipur: Three more persons test COVID-19 positive in Tamenglong; total cases rise to 208
Of the total 208 COVID-19 cases, 71 are active cases while 137 persons have recovered from the infection.
Tamenglong district on Sunday reported three more COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the district to 208, official sources said.
According to an update by the District Surveillance Officer, Tamenglong, Dr Rachunlung Kamei, of the total 208 COVID-19 cases, 71 are active cases while 137 persons have recovered from the infection. All COVID-19 patients from the district are asymptomatic, it stated.
The three new cases have been kept under Covid care centre, Tamenglong Higher Secondary School. The cumulative number of persons under Covid care centre is 112 of which 77 persons have been discharged or shifted from the centre. Currently, 35 inmates, including 15 males and 20 females, are kept at in the Covid care centre at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School, it added.
In Tamenglong district, as many as 2,441 persons have been screened for COVID-19 at the CMO office till July 19.
While 206 persons are under home quarantine, 78 persons are quarantined in community quarantine centres. Of the 78 inmates at the community quarantine centres, 42 inmates, including 25 males and 17 females, are quarantined at CMEHSS; 35 inmates, 19 males and 16 females, are at Pretty Lamb institute while one female is quarantined at ITS, it further added.
Meanwhile, even as the stranded natives continue to return to the district, most of the community quarantine centres in the district headquarters are left vacant as the quarantinees have completed their quarantine period, official sources said.
A total of 2,217 stranded persons have returned to the district headquarters till Saturday, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Project Officer K Acham Rongmei said.
Speaking to the Imphal Free Press, Rongmei said, “There are 15 community quarantine centres in the district headquarters. However, only the community quarantine centres at Pretty Lamb Institute, CMEHSS, ITS and Covid Care Centre at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School have inmates,” Rongmei said.
The DRDA PO also added that incoming returnees till July 22 would be quarantined in the community quarantine centre at Pretty Lamb Institute.
