MYFA continues campaign for recognition of Manipuri language

MYFA president Seram Herajit lamented that Manipuris’ settlement in Assam will only become a history if the Manipuri language becomes extinct in Assam.

Manipuri Youth Front of Assam (MYFA) continued with its campaign to recognise Manipuri language as associate official language of Assam. The front on Saturday held a campaign meeting at Karmanga village, Cachar Lakhipur sub division.

Speaking at the meeting, vice president, AAMPAL, Sanathoi assured to support the Meira Paibis in the agitations launched by MYFA for the Manipuri mother tongue. 

MYFA president Seram Herajit lamented that Manipuris’ settlement in Assam will only become a history if the Manipuri language becomes extinct in Assam.

“It is no longer time to remain silent when we are not benefited for studying our mother tongue,” he stated. After the meeting, a branch of MYFA was opened at Joypur Rajabazar and an 11 member committee was also constituted.

President of the new branch, Thangjam Brojen also assured every possible support and cooperation towards MYFA's demand to recognise Manipuri language as associate official language of Assam.  

Attendees of the meeting also held various placards and posters voicing the demand.
