Manipur recorded a major spike of as many as 91 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours since Friday, taking the state's total positive tally to 1,891.
The new cases include 63 personnel of CRPF Training Centre, Kangpokpi and three army personnel from Leimakhong Garrison, Imphal West. They have recently joined their duty after leave, a release from COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The other new COVID-19 cases include 12 from Thoubal, six from Kamjong, four from Ukhrul and three from Tamenglong.
They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities and all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
Meanwhile, 19 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test, the Control Room stated.
The numbers of active and recovered cases are 709 and 1,182 respectively. The recovery rate is 62.50 percent, it added.
