Manipur records highest single-day spike of 132 new COVID-19 cases

With this highest single-day spike, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state has jumped to 1,582.

Manipur recorded the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases on Friday with as many as 132 persons being confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

With this highest single-day spike, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state has jumped to 1,582.

According to a release from COVID-19 Common Control Room, the fresh COVID-19 cases include 37 from Ukhrul, 28 from Kamjong, 24 from Imphal West, 11 from Kakching, 10 from Tamenglong, nine from Jiribam, eight from Thoubal, four from Senapati and one from Imphal East.

Meanwhile, a lady doctor of JNIMS and a hospital orderly of RIMS have been confirmed as COVID-19 positive cases on Thursday and Friday respectively, it said.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases among healthcare workers in the state has also reached eight.

Altogether 33 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test, it said.

The number of active cases is 750 while that of recovered cases is 832. The recovery rate is 52.59 percent, the release stated.

It also stated that new confirmed cases will be shifted to the Covid Care Facilities and all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
