Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) and its enforcement team will book any individual, who disposed or throw away solid wastes carelessly at improper places, IMC mayor L Lokeshor warned on Friday.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a cleanliness drive conducted at Khwairamband Temporary Market, the mayor appealed to the people to enrol for door-to-door wastes collection to keep the surrounding neat and clean for a healthy society. Enrolling for door to door wastes collection by paying a sum of only Rs 150 per month will help the people in preventing various health hazards, he said.
The mayor stated that the cleanliness drive was started in connection with the ‘No Plastic Day’ observation held at Lamdeng in collaboration with its local clubs.
He contended that most people irresponsibly dispose wastes at improper places during wee hours taking advantage of absence of people. “People need to take responsible initiatives while disposing wastes in order to ensure a healthy society,” he stressed.
Lokeshor asserted that IMC will start conducting drive against those individuals and booked them for legal action if found disposing wastes/garbage carelessly. Smilar cleanliness drive will be carried out in different parts of the city mostly in the market places, he added.
