Jiribam to open new Covid Care Centre
Necessary preparations are underway with joint efforts from the medical directorate, PWD, PHED and electricity department.
Covid Care Centre in Jiribam district is all set to be opened at Model School, Harinagar after necessary preparations are being made.
Joint director, Dr S Sucheta; chief medical officer, Dr E Okendra and AE, PWD, N Rajbehari along with other officials and staff inspected the ongoing preparations to transform the school into a Covid Care Centre on Wednesday.
Dr Sucheta told this reporter that the Model School was selected out of three sites considered for the Covid Care Centre as the Jiribam DC had proposed that it will be the most convenient.
Subsequently, necessary preparations are underway with joint efforts from the medical directorate, PWD, PHED and electricity department, she said.
Earlier, the Covid Care Centre was planned to be opened at the 50 bedded District Hospital by utilizing the Community Health Centre for treatment of other non-Covid patients. However, considering the opposition from the people, the Model School was selected to be the Covid Care Centre, she added.
The chief medical officer, Dr Okendro observed that the number of samples sent for Rapid Antigen Test from Jiribam to Imphal will be drastically reduced except for few absolutely necessary ones with the functioning of the Covid Care Centre.
On Tuesday, DC, SP, CMO, experts of Medical Directorate, PHED engineering cell, staff of Electricity department along with CVOs in Jiribam resolved to set up the Covid Care Centre at the Model School, Harinagar.
