However, Manipur produced the sparks off a right flank attack when Sudhir Laitonjam send a cross to the goalmouth and Salam Johnson anticipated well, to slice it to the left of Nagaland keeper Neithovilie in the 25 minute for the lead.

The second half proved more fruitful for the host team as they pick more pace and consolidate the scorecard from a corner kick where Salam Johnson make a shy to the goal but hit the horizontal and bounce back into play and Sudhir Laitonjam made a lunging header in 53 minute to bring up the second goal.

A few moment later, Manipur breathed fire when a cross from Th.Manichand Singh find Salam Johnson on the goalmouth to make lofted shot to the goal in the 56 minute to make it 3-0 goals.

Nagaland never really had any proper shot to the goal, despite having the ball possession and had to blame themselves for not applying fully to the game.
