Manipur reported three new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the number of total confirmed cases in the state to 32 and active cases at 28, according to the state health department.
One each new COVID-19 confirmed case was reported from Thoubal, Jiribam and Churachandpur districts. The one from Churachandpur returned from Chennai recently, the health department stated.
Meanwhile, expressing concern over the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases and the management of quarantine centres in the state, Coalition for Indigenous’ Rights Campaign (CIRCA) has stated that government should give priority on community mobilisation and involvement of local committees in quarantine centre management.
A release stated that the government need to revisit the measures being taken up to check the spread of coronavirus especially with the return of thousands of stranded Manipuris.
CIRCA also suggested for increasing number of quarantine centres, increasing manpower by engaging staff from various government departments. It also urged the chief minister, ministers, MLAs to lead the fight against COVID-19 pandemic as leaders while urging not to involve in petty management of quarantine centres.
