Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School in Imphal, Manipur on Wednesday announced that it will remain closed for three days from Thursday, following a notification from higher authorities to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The school principal notified that one of the school staff has tested positive on Wednesday.
After educational institutes, including schools and colleges had remained shut for months, the state government issued an order to resume offline classes, starting from class IX to higher classes from November 10.
After the state government instructed them to resume offline class, at least 17 persons including 16 children from an orphan home in Churachandpur district had tested positive for COVID-19 after they reportedly attended classes in their respective schools.
Principal of TG higher secondary school had notified on November 13 that the classes will be conducted in blended mode i.e. online and offline as per the schedule and time table of respective classes starting from November 15.
As per sources, the TG Higher secondary school staff who tested positive is a non-teaching staff of the school. Although the state government issued the order to resume offline classes, some of the guardians are not fully in support of resuming offline classes as Covid positive cases in schools cause anxiety and fear among them.
