After the protest at Motbung model village demanding the unconditional release of the three individuals arrested in connection with B Gamnom killing, women of Kangpokpi town held a sit-in protest at Nute Kailhang on Tuesday.
The protest jointly organised by Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation and Thadou Students' Association Sadar Hills demanded unconditional release of the three, namely Hentinseh Singsit, Henminlun Misao, and Seigoulun Singsit who had been arrested by a combine security forces in connection with B Gamnom killing on October 25.
The women protestors shouted a slogan, ‘We want justice’, ‘release the innocent trio unconditionally’ etc. while holding placards which read, ‘we protest against the arrest of innocent citizens’, ‘innocent lives matter, don't tarnish their careers’, ‘release immediately’, ‘we want justice’, etc.

Vice president KWWO Kimboi Lhouvum said that the innocence of Hentinseh Singsit, Henminlun Misao, and Seigoulun Singsit had been proven many times with documents while the village authority of the chief of K Phoipi also declared already in public of their innocence and their profile as drug users have also been known by all.
Despite all evidence, the state government and authorities concerned failed to accept the facts and reality of the three innocent individuals, she added.
“We are protesting against the arrest of innocent citizens whose innocence has been proven with evidence but had to suffer along with their families, and we demand their unconditional release before it is too late,” she further said.
She also said that they all hail from poor family backgrounds and their families have undergone immense hardships and grievances owing to their arrest.

“It is our humble and sincere appeal to the state government and the authorities concerned to also consider the grievances and hardships faced by the families while considering the facts and evidence which proved their innocence, and release them without any condition at the earliest,” she further added.
It may be mentioned that the civil bodies of Kangpokpi district had served an ultimatum to resort to extreme forms of agitation from November 11 if the three persons were not released before November 10 but suspended it after talks were held with government representatives. However, democratic forms of agitations continue till today in connection with the arrest of the trio over B Gamnom killing.
The organisations of Kangpokpi had also cautioned that its suspended agitations can be revoked anytime if the trio is not released at the earliest.
