Volunteers of COVID-19 awareness campaign felicitated

Manipur University on Monday has warmly felicitated the volunteers of COVID-19 awareness campaign which were launched on May 14 by the department of Botany and Zoology of the university.

Manipur University on Monday has warmly felicitated the volunteers of COVID-19 awareness campaign which were launched on May 14 by the department of Botany and Zoology of the university.

The felicitation programme was held at the Court Hall of Manipur University. Department of Zoology head MU professor N Mohilal Meitei, who was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the function, said the awareness programme was taken up in accordance with the directives contained in the roadmap towards containing COVID-19 developed by Manipur University.

Moreover, it is also a pilot project for the research scholars of Botany and Zoology departments under the theme ‘What can you do for your society regarding COVID-19?’ he added.

Mohilal said during the awareness programmes, more than 4,000 cotton masks which were manufactured following the guidelines of the World Health Organisation were distributed.

Vice chancellor of Manipur University Jarnail Singh while delivering the chief guest’s speech lauded the teachers and students of the two departments, for their service to the society by actively involving themselves. A booklet on COVID-19 Awareness Campaigns was also released during the function by the chief guest.
