Manipur on Friday recorded 55 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,24,383 while the death toll mounted to 1,942 with one more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The day's positivity rate is 2.9 per cent.
The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Friday was from Imphal West. The deceased had co-morbidities and was vaccinated with the first dose, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.
As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 25 and 18 cases respectively. Three cases were reported from Senapati, two each from Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Ukhrul, and one each from Chandel, Kamjong and Thoubal.
The state also recorded 25 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,21,651. The recovery rate is 97.80 per cent, the release added.
Manipur now has 790 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 260 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 109 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 20,40,295 (first dose: 12,58,004 second dose: 7,82,291).
