Soon after MLA RK Imo and Yamthong Haokip joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam who was elected from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) announced that he will join the BJP on Thursday.

During a press conference held at his residence at Chajing Mairenkhong, Imphal, the MLA said that the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was remarkable and that he wanted to serve the people under the leadership of Modi. "And it is for this very reason that I have decided to join BJP and fight in the coming Manipur Legislative Assembly election for Langthabal assembly constituency," the LJP MLA added.

Clarifying against the allegation by Dy CM Y Joykumar, the MLA said one goods truck loaded with rice cannot be transported to Pherzwal four times in a day. The rice allocated for Pherzwal was transported from FCS Godown, Sangaiporou to Churachandpur two times, the MLA said adding that the issue was also resolved by a House committee terming the allegation against me as baseless.

Recalling such irrelevant issue during the time of election will be taken as assassination of character, Karam Shyam warned.

“I will resign from politics for lifetime if Joykumar can identify with proper documents that the shops or paddy fields are in my name and belong to me”, Shyam said of the allegations.

The MLA stated that the Dy CM, who was state finance minister, has two houses at Naoremthong and a lot of paddy fields at Lamboikhongnangkhong and other assets at different places of the state. From where he got the money to buy all his assets, the MLA questioned adding that the Dy CM was famous for his percentage when he was state finance in-charge.

Before he entered politics, Joykumar was a government servant, an employee in the police department as DGP and there are court cases against him still pending in connection with about 1,500 cases on extra judicial killing, MLA Karam Shyam said.

The MLA further stated that the Dy CM does not have any political integrity despite being a national vice president of National People’s Party (NPP), adding that as a part of the present coalition government, Joykumar should know the ethics of coalition.

There will be no good future for the NPP if Joykumar remains in the party, he added.

Meanwhile, A Sharda Devi, president BJP Manipur Pradesh said that there is coordination between the state and central party and that joining the party at state or central level is same to the party.
