Manipur's COVID-19 tally surges to 1,23,899 with 57 new positive cases

COVID-19 claimed one more life in Manipur on Wednesday.

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 57 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,23,899 while the death toll mounted to 1,926 with one more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The daily positivity rate is 3.4 per cent.

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Wednesday was from Imphal East. The deceased had co-morbidities and was vaccinated with second dose, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 29 and 19 cases respectively. One case was reported from Thoubal and two each from Bishnupur, Chandel, Senapati and Ukhrul.

All precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 56 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,21,269. The recovery rate is 97.88 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 704 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 423 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 155 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 19,88,634 (first dose: 12,51,250 second dose: 7,37,384).
