A road mishap claimed the life of a young man when a two-wheeler he was riding crashed into a parked truck (Tata-MN04A-8635) on Imphal-Ukhrul road at Yaingangpokpi Makha Leikai, Imphal East district early Friday, sources said.

The man died on the spot of the accident, police sources said.

The incident was reported at 4 am when the truck driver found out about the unfortunate mishap and reported it to the Yaingangpokpi Police Station. The victim has been identified as Yendrembam Tondonba, 28, son of Manglem of Yaingangpokpi Makha Leikai.

Yaingangpokpi Police detained both the vehicles involved, the truck and the scooter (Activa- MN01C/1553), and filed a case to investigate the event. After a post-mortem examination was conducted at JNIMS mortuary, the body was handed to the family.
