Manipur on Friday recorded 83 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,23,609 while the death toll mounted to 1,919 with one more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is four per cent.
The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Friday was from Chandel. The person had co-morbidities and was vaccinated with the first dose, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.
As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 35 and 25 positive cases respectively. Six cases were reported each from Ukhrul, five from Bishnupur, four from Thoubal, two each from Kakching, Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal and one each from Senapati and Tamenglong.
All precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The state also recorded 53 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,20,819. The recovery rate is 97.74 per cent, the release added.
Manipur now has 871 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 564 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 127 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 19,38,003 (first dose: 12,46,399 second dose: 6,91,604).
