Manipur: People with COVID-19 symptoms advised compulsory testing irrespective of travel or contact history

The state reported 41 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the state’s total positive cases tally to 1,366.

In the wake of Manipur entering the local transmission stage of COVID-19 spread, the government has advised people with COVID-19 symptoms to undergo COVID-19 testing.
 
Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, sore throat, cough, body ache and shortness of breath, according to a release from COVID-19 Common Control Room.
 
Even though these symptoms are also found in Influenza like Illnesses and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections, it advised that any person with these symptoms should undergo COVID-19 testing.
 
“Healthcare providers should facilitate the testing irrespective of the patient's travel or contact history by contacting the respective District Surveillance Officers,” it urged.
 
Meanwhile, 41 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours, pushing the state’s total positive cases tally to 1,366.
 
The new confirmed cases include 18 from Kangpokpi, six each from Kamjong and Imphal West, four from Kakching, two each from Tamenglong and Ukhrul and one each from Churachandpur, Imphal East and Noney, the release stated.
 
With the discharge of 22 persons since Saturday, the numbers of active and recovered cases are 677 and 689 respectively. The recovery rate is 50.43 percent, it stated.
 
Fresh cases will be shifted to the Covid Care Facilities and all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added.
