Manipur: Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen celebrates India's 100 Crore Covid vaccinations

After 279 days of struggles and relentless efforts, India scripted history to become only the second nation after China to reach the one billion COVID-19 vaccination doses milestone mark on October 21, the local MLA said.

After India achieved the one billion COVID-19 vaccination doses milestone mark, Kangpokpi assembly constituency MLA Nemcha Kipgen along with BJP Kangpokpi Mandal and the people of Poudel Basti celebrated the landmark achievement on Monday at 9 Miles Poudel Basti as a second dose vaccination programme was organised at the village.

To mark the celebration, the local MLA distributed sweets and drinks to all the participants, Gaon Bura, and beneficiaries of the second dose vaccination while thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts and concern for the people.

The MLA also thanked the people of Kangpokpi, especially the healthcare workers, other frontline workers, and the COVID Task Force for getting together to be a part of India's landmark achievement.

MLA Nemcha Kipgen said that to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, India started its vaccination drive on January 16 this year. At the time, only two vaccines, namely, Covaxin and Covishield were available while India has granted Emergency Use Authorization to six COVID vaccines till date, she added.

The MLA distributed bags printed with the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh, and the MLA herself that she has made under Prime Minister Gareeb Kalyan Anna Muft (Ration) Yojana to all the Gaon Bura, the village headmen, and all the participants while conveying that the bags were made for the convenience of the villagers/beneficiaries while availing the ration distributed under PMGKAM.

Meanwhile, the MLA also visited the second dose vaccination site at the village and thanked all the beneficiaries for coming out in huge numbers for the second dose.

She held an interaction with the people, Gaon Bura, headmen, and area leaders on various development work taken up by the BJP government and the development work in the pipeline while exhorting the people of Poudel Basti to vote for the BJP into power again for more development and changes in the areas.

Meanwhile, BJP Kangpokpi Mandal led by its president Tingnei Lhouvum had a booth level meeting at Poudel Basti and enrolment members.
