Peace Poster Contest on 'We Are All Connected' held for school students in Imphal

The first prize of the Peace Poster Contest organised by the Lions Club on UN Day was won by Sunaina Saikhom of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat.

A Peace Poster Contest on the theme ‘We Are All Connected’ was organised for school students of the age group 11-13 years by Lions Club of Imphal to observe United Nations Day in the state on Sunday.

The first prize was won by Sunaina Saikhom of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat; the second prize went to Presila Heikrujam of Kendriya Vidyalaya Lamphelpat while the winner of the 3rd prize was Pheedam Sinam of Ramakrishna Mission School, stated a release.  

In the afternoon, a debate for Senior Secondary and College students was held on the topic ‘The mobilization of critical Covid-19 supplies to India under the WHO supervision is an example of global solidarity that is required to address the global threat. Such an act of oneness will surely change the course of pandemic’, it mentioned.

It further stated that the 1st prize was won by Thangjam Reena of DM College of Arts, while Bolin Laitonjam of Sainik School won the 2nd prize. The 3rd prize went to Naorem Chelsea of St Anthony College, Shillong. Former head of programme, AIR Imphal Dilip Mayengbam was the speaker, it added.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, a prominent member of the Club said that the International Association of Lions Clubs has been associated with the United Nations since its inception on October 24, 1945, the release stated.

It stated that keeping in view the good services rendered by the Lions club members all over the world, the UN has been observing one day in February or March as Lions Day at UN. In reciprocation of this gesture, Lions Clubs all over the world observe UN Day on October 24 every year, it added.
