India's COVID-19 active caseload remains below 2 lakh-mark, lowest in 235 days

India reported 15,906 new COVID-19 positive cases on Sunday.

India's COVID-19 caseload reached 3,41,75,468 with the addition of 15,906 new cases, while the death toll mounted to 4,54,269 with 561 more fatalities in a span of 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

India's active caseload presently constitutes 0.51 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is lowest since March 2020. India has 1,72,594 active COVID-19 cases as of Sunday, lowest in 235 days, the ministry stated.

The recovery of 16,479 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,35,48,605. With the recovery rate at 98.17 per cent, it is currently at its highest peak since March 2020, as per the ministry.

India has so far conducted over 59,97,71,320 cumulative tests for COVID-19, the ministry stated.

Meanwhile, 102,10,43,258 vaccine doses have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive, it added.
