Manipur's daily COVID-19 tally drops to 56

Manipur reported two deaths on Friday.

The COVID-19 positivity rate in Manipur dropped to 3.4 per cent as only 56 samples were found positive for COVID-19 out of the 1,664 test results received on Friday, according to the latest update by the state health department.

While the death toll mounted to 1,907 with two more fatalities, the state's COVID-19 caseload reached 1,23,107.

A total of 25 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Imphal West, 17 from Imphal East, five from Churachandpur, four from Bishnupur, three from Ukhrul, and one each from Kakching and Senapati, a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

All precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The two deaths reported on Friday were one each from Chandel and Imphal West. Both had co-morbidities and one was vaccinated with the first dose of COVID vaccine, the release added. 

The state also recorded 494 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,20,294. The recovery rate is 97.71 per cent, the release added. Manipur now has 906 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 605 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 91 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 18,64,123 (first dose: 12,39,478  second dose: 6,24,654).
