Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya report highest COVID-19 death toll in Northeast India

Assam reported one more COVID-19 death and Manipur three more deaths, as per the latest official updates.

Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya reported the highest number of COVID-19 death toll among the states in Northeast India, according to the latest updates released by the Union Health Ministry.

So far, COVID-19 has claimed 5,958 lives in Assam, 1,904 in Manipur and 1,439 in Meghalaya. Assam reported one more COVID-19 death and Manipur three more deaths on Wednesday.

Currently, Assam has a recovery rate of 98.42 per cent, while Manipur and Meghalaya’s recovery rate is 97.35 per cent each.

Assam has the highest number of recoveries in the region, as a total of 5,97,859 COVID-19 patients have recovered so far.

Mizoram reported 396 deaths due to the disease, while it continued to log highest COVID-19 active cases in the region with a tally of 1,04,548. Its COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 1,15,207.

Tripura’s death toll due to COVID-19  reached 816, Nagaland-676 and Sikkim-393.

Arunachal Pradesh has the lowest number of COVID-19 deaths at 280 so far. The state today has 55043 COVID-19 confirmed cases and 138 active cases.
