Swarnim Vijay Mashaal reaches Churachandpur, homage paid to martyrs

Swarnim Vijay Mashaal that symbolises India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 War reached Churachandpur district on Tuesday and it was handed over to 46 Assam Rifles commandant, Col Viplav Tripathi under the aegis of 27 Sector Assam Rifles.

It was escorted by 25 bikers of Royal Riders, Churachandpur, sources said.

To mark the 50 years of the victory over Pakistan, the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the National War Memorial in New Delhi on December 16, 2020.

Four victory flames, which were lit from the eternal flame at National War Memorial, have been carried throughout the cities and villages across the nation, including the villages of historical importance in respect of the subject war and those of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) and Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) awardees of 1971 war.

DIG of 27 Sector, Brig Ashish Rangan and 46th Assam Rifles started the national celebration of Swarnim Vijay Mashaal by paying homage to the martyrs at the War Memorial of 27 Sector Assam Rifles, Churachandpur.

The 46 AR under the aegis of 27 Sector Assam Rifles, IGAR (South) has planned the celebration to be conducted in three phases starting from Tuesday (October 19).

The follow up events will include welcoming of the Victory Flame on the banks of Khuga Dam, Run for Fit India, friendly football and volleyball matches with the youths of Mata village on October 20, and four road shows with Royal Riders Churachandpur and other youths of Churachandpur district. A cultural programme will be organised on October 21.
