The United Peoples’ Front Manipur on Tuesday appealed to the state authority to take immediate actions to tackle the irrigation problems of paddy crops of Chanung Khun of Khundrakpam assembly constituency, Imphal East. UPF Chanung Local Council N Thoiba stated that owing to the scarcity of irrigation water, farmers will not be able to harvest the crop. UPF appealed to the paddy field owners to reconsider the collection of agricultural land compensation from the farmers. It also urged the concerned authorities to provide the hapless farmers with seeds for the winter cover crop.
