India sees impressive fall in daily COVID-19 positive cases, death toll

A total of 13,058 new COVID-19 cases and 164 deaths were reported, as per the latest updates by the Union Health Ministry.

India continued to witness a downtrend in daily COVID-19 positive cases as it reported 13,058 new cases in the last 24 hours, lowest in 231 days, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday.

The COVID-19 active cases in the country dropped further to 1,83,118, lowest in 227 days. The total number of active cases account for less than one per cent of the total cases, currently at 0.54 per cent, lowest since March 2020.

The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 3,40,94,373, while the death toll mounted to 4,52,454. The country also witnessed a fall in the number of daily deaths below 200 at 164.

The current recovery rate is 98.14 per cent; highest since March 2020 as it reported 19,470 more recoveries in the last 24 hours that pushed the total number of recoveries to 3,34,58,801.

As the situation across the country improved, the COVID-19 weekly positivity rate (1.36%) remained less than three per cent for the last 116 days, while the daily positivity rate (1.11%) fell below three per cent for the last 50 days.

Meanwhile, 59,31,06,188 total tests have been conducted and 98,67,69,411 vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

On Monday, the country reported 13,596 COVID-19 positive cases. The cumulative active caseload stood at 1,89,694. The recovery rate was 98.12 per cent. The Weekly Positivity Rate was 1.37 per cent, while the daily positivity rate was 1.37 per cent.
