District Congress Committee Sadar Hills held party reformation meeting

In the event of the BJP gaining power in the upcoming general election, the common people of the state will face not just the rise of communalism but also threaten the democratic values of secularism, freedom of speech, diversity, and integrity of the state, MPCC co-opted member of Saitu AC Lamtinthang Haokip said.

A party reformation meeting of the District Congress Committee, Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi was held on Sunday at Blossom Home, Motbung in the presence of MPCC Sadar Hills general secretary (in-charge) Sokho George, MPCC general secretary N Kipgen, AIMCC North-East general secretary (in-charge) Kim Haokip, and MPYCC vice president Thangminlen Kipgen.

In his addressed Sokho George drew the attention of the executives of the district, blocks, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress of Sadar Hills and workers, supporters, and the general public of the district to take extra caution from the communal and religious agenda of the present BJP-led government in the centre and the state.

He exhorted the leaders and the gathering to bring back the grand old Congress party in the state in the 2022 general election for peace, harmony and people’s oriented development in the state.

MPCC co-opted member of Saitu AC Lamtinthang Haokip also spoke about the change in Saitu and Kangpokpi district at large and the need for better society with people’s participation to defeat the communal agenda of Biren led-BJP government in the state.

He continued that in the event of the BJP gaining power in the coming 2022 general election, the common people of the state will face not just the rise of communalism but also threaten the democratic values of secularism, freedom of speech, diversity, and integrity of the state.

Haokip also warned of the surge of RSS-BJP policies of swapping the titled of Father of the Nation from Mahatma Gandhi to Savarkar, the ideologue of Hindu Mahasaba also known as Hindutva, meaning only for Hindus, of Hindus and by Hindus, totally forgetting the pluralistic nature of the country. He assured that Congress will come back in two assembly constituencies out of three ACs within Kangpokpi district, and that Congress is now sure to come back in the state as well after the 2022 general election to serve the common people.

District Congress Committee Sadar Hills president Zilkhothang Touthang stressed on the need of strengthening the party starting from the grass root level while encouraging the executives of the district, blocks, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, and all party workers and supporters to continue working for the party wholeheartedly.

The meeting also unanimously reformed and inducted new executives in Sadar Hills District Congress Committee which will be announced after taking due consent from the competent authority.

The meeting was attended by executives and members of District Mahila Congress Committee led by its president and secretary, Neinu Kipgen and Withonliu respectively along with all executives from 3-Block Mahila Congress; executives and members of District Youth Congress, Sadar Hills led by its president and secretary, T Samuel Haokip and Jangminthang Kipgen respectively along with all executives from 3-AYCs, and various other party workers, well-wishers, supporters and people who wish the party to come back in 2022.
