The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (I-M) or the NSCN-IM on Friday asserted that it would not follow the "forbidden route to the Naga solution that is linked to foregoing the Naga national flag and constitution".

This statement of the NSCN-IM holds significance as it came amid the resumption of the peace talks after a long hiatus.

"NSCN’s stand is loud and clear that it would not follow the forbidden route to the Naga solution that is linked to foregoing the Naga national flag and constitution which is the face of the Naga political struggle and identity," it said, adding, "That would be no better than making comical entity out of the Naga solution".

The NSCN-IM said in a statement that the "Naga flag with divine origin cannot be traded or bargained to make the Nagas as infidel people".

The NSCN-IM said that the "huge burden" of the Naga political issue that the Government of India is struggling to unload is not the making of the Naga people. According to the NSCN-IM, it is deeply rooted in "India’s malicious pleasure of violating" the historical and political rights of the Naga people for more than six decades.

Ironically, according to the NSCN-IM, when the issue got too hot to handle, the Government of India started to indulge in divisive policy and flattery in the name of finding the Naga political solution. In the present context, according to the NSCN-IM, “made in India collaborators” are planted to confuse and hoodwink the Nagas with its typical high sounding promises but having no political commitment to fulfill as done in the past.

"The NSCN is however, no longer naïve enough to be carried away by such outrageous flattery," it stated, while adding, "Here we are talking about the Naga national flag and Constitution (Yehzabo), the two issues that is holding up the Naga solution under the ongoing Indo-Naga political talk in Delhi".

It then said that the "chequered history of the Indo-Naga political issue is clear enough before us, with accords and agreements that were never meant to be implemented in letter and spirit". It added, "Naturally, the Nagas are still haunted by this flamboyant show of dealing on the Naga issue".

The NSCN-IM then alleged that the "demonic mask" of the Government of India with ‘post solution’ offer is being brought back to live again as it is desperate to maneuver her way to trap the Naga people again to accept whatever is being offered to hurry up the Naga talk. "Significantly, the bitter lesson of the past is driving away the NSCN from giving any face value after seeing through the crafty wickedness of the offer," the NSCN-IM statement added.
