AMBBA to hold Mr Manipur 2021 on December 11, 12

The AMBBA is also gearing to hold a felicitation programme on October 24 for bodybuilders and officials who had participated in National and International competition during the period of 2019 and 2020.

The All Manipur Body Building Association (AMBBA) on Wednesday announced that the 59th edition of Mr Manipur Contest 2021 is scheduled to be held on December 11 and 12, 2021.

The announcement was made by president, AMBBA N Ratan Singh while briefing  the media at its office at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

N Ratan said it was not possible to organise events including competitions in 2020 due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. “But as the situation has improved and having got the nod for competition, we are going to hold the Mr Manipur on December 11-12 of this year,” he said.

The consensus to hold the contest was taken during a meeting of AMBBA held on Wednesday.

He further said, the AMBBA is also organising the 1st Boby Classic BodyBuilding Championship 2021 sponsored by the legendary body builder Arambam Boby Singh on October 31. The competition is open to 70kg below, 70kg above and Men’s Physique. He urged all affiliated units of AMBBA to participate in the championship.

In addition, in promoting bodybuilders in the state, a new gym, Boby Golden Fitness Gym will be inaugurated on the same day at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai, Imphal West.

AMBBA general secretary Y Sunanta chipped in with the different categories of Mr Manipur contest that it will have Junior, Senior, Master, Women Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique and Women Physique.

“In the last edition of Mr Manipur 2019, we have incurred around Rs 12.13 lakh including Rs 6 lakh as cash prize for bodybuilders while the rest is spent on trophies, medals, certificates, advertisement etc. Although, we are not financially sound in our coffers this time, due to absence of activity owing to COVID-19, we nevertheless are trying to maintain the same cash prizes as possible,” he added.
