AR foils cross border gold smuggling in Manipur

The Assam Rifles Moreh Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) recovered 6.63 kg of gold estimated to be of Rs 3.1 crore at Moreh.

Assam Rifles Moreh Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling of 6.63 kg of gold estimated to be of Rs 3.1 crore at Moreh on Friday.

A release by PRO IGAR (South) stated that based on a specific input, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation and intercepted an auto-rickshaw moving suspiciously in Moreh. On thorough checking of the vehicle, the gold was recovered and the auto-rickshaw driver was apprehended.

The auto-rickshaw driver has been handed over to the Department of Revenue Intelligence, Moreh for further legal action along with the seized gold, it added.
