Manipur's daily COVID-19 positivity drops to 4.3 pc

Manipur recorded 116 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

A day after the state recorded an increased positivity rate of 6.2 per cent, Manipur's daily COVID-19 positivity dropped to 4.3 per cent on Thursday, according to the latest update by the state health department.

On Thursday, a total of 2,682 test results were received, of which 116 were found positive for COVID-19. The new COVID-19 positive cases included 60 (including one CAPF personnel) from Imphal West, 33 from Imphal East, five each from Bishnupur and Thoubal, three from Ukhrul, two each from Chandel, Churachandpur, Kakching and Noney, and one each from Kamjong and Pherzawl, as per the update.

With these new positive cases, the state's COVID-19 confirmed caseload surged to 1,21,578 while the death toll reached 1,876 with one more fatality from Bishnupur. The victim had comorbidities and was vaccinated with both doses, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

The state also recorded 140 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,17,950 and the recovery rate is 97.1 per cent. Manipur has 1,752 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday, according to the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 912 D-type oxygen cylinders and 104 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to 10 different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

It further stated that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the state reached 17,49,356 ( First dose: 12,29,107 and second dose 5,20,249).

According to the release, there are 465 vacant general beds and 112 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.

In CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 29 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 9436807346/7005125158) there are 58 vacant general beds and 38 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 76 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 201 vacant general beds and 24 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 56 general beds and 11 ICU/HDU beds.
