Manipur's daily COVID-19 positivity rises to 6.2 pc

A total of 2,581 test results were received on Wednesday, of which 159 were found positive for COVID-19.

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 159 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the state's tally to 1,21,462. The daily COVID-19 positivity rate in the state increased to 6.2 per cent on Wednesday from Tuesday's 5.9 per cent, according to the latest update by the state health department.

As per the update, a total of 2,581 test results were received on Wednesday, of which 159 were found positive for COVID-19, including 82 from Imphal West, 42 from Imphal East, 12 from Bishnupur, nine from Churachandpur, six from Ukhrul, two each from Senapati and Thoubal, and one each from Chandel, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, and Tamenglong.

The COVID-19 death toll also surged to 1,875 as two more persons from Imphal West, and one each from Senapati and Thoubal died due to the infection in a span of 24 hours, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

Of the four victims, three had comorbidities, two were vaccinated with the first dose, while two were not vaccinated, the release stated.

The state also recorded 102 new recoveries, pushing the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases to l,17,810 and the recovery rate is 96.99 per cent. The number of COVID-19 active cases is 1,777 as of Wednesday, it stated.

Meanwhile, a total of 802 D-1ype oxygen cylinders and 191 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different healrh facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

It further stated that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the state reached 1739798 ( First dose: 12,28,110 and second dose 5,11,688).

According to the release, there are 442 vacant general beds and 114 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.

In CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 9436807346/7005125158) there are 58 vacant general beds and 38 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 74 vacant general beds and 22 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 197 vacant general beds and 24 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 38 general beds and 12 ICU/HDU beds.
