The Khousabung Area Peoples’ Alliance (KAPA) and the Khousabung Sub-Division Demand Committee (KSDDC) have urged the chief minister to expedite the process for creation and inauguration of Khousabung sub-division before the state Assembly Election.

A joint release by KAPA and KSDDC stated that a public meeting (People’s Conclave) initiated by the two bodies was held on Sunday at Khousabung Inpi, Churachandpur district.

The meeting reiterated its strongest condemnation of the ‘cabinet decision’ adopted on February 10, 2016 regarding the shifting of the proposed Khousabung sub-division to Kangvai sub-division.

The meeting also unanimously resolved to urge all political parties and all intending candidates of 57-Henglep assembly constituency to make their stand clear on the proposed Khousabung sub-division at the earliest, it added.

It continued that the cabinet decision taken under the chairmanship of the then chief minister Okram Ibobi with the ill-advised of the then Congress MLA T Manga Vaiphei was not unconstitutional. The decision was a demonstration of a parochial and divisive agenda which is undemocratic and suppression of people’s voice.

The meeting also reiterated its commitment to jointly pursue the demand of sub-division for Khousabung as the proposed sub-division is the aspiration of the people of Khousabung area for over two decades, it added.

The meeting further resolved to observe February 10, 2022 as Khousabung Black Day in pursuit of justice for Khousabung sub-division, the release stated.
