Van catches fire at Yairipok market

While trying to fix the silencer pipe by using a welding machine, there was a sudden breakout of fire and the vehicle was engulfed in flames, sources said.

One Maruti Van caught fire at Yairipok market near Imoinu ground under Yairipok police station at around 9.30 am on Saturday.

As per police sources, the owner of the Maruti Van bearing registration number MN06LA/0831 Letginlal Khongsai, son of Jangsei Khongsai of S Bonjang Village, Saichang, Senapati district came at a welding workshop owned by one Soibam Irai Singh of Yairipok Bishnunaha at Yairipok market near Emoinu ground.

While trying to fix the silencer pipe by using a welding machine, there was a sudden breakout of fire and the vehicle was engulfed in flames, the source added.

As soon as the report of the fire was received, Yairipok police immediately alerted the Fire Sub Station Yairipok and a team of Yairipok Police Station led by SI Bikram Singh rushed to the spot.

The fire service team managed to douse the flames, the police source continued. Later, the van was brought to Yairipok police station for necessary procedures, it added.
