Manipur's COVID-19 tally reaches 1,20,879 with 136 new positive cases

Two more persons died in Manipur due to COVID-19 on Saturday.

Manipur on Saturday recorded 136 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,20,879 while the death toll mounted to 1,860 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 5.4 per cent. 

Of the two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Saturday, one case each were reported from Imphal West and Churachandpur. Both had comorbidities and were not vaccinated, according to a release issued by state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases, 76 and 29 positive cases respectively. Thirteen cases were reported from Ukhrul, five each from Tamenglong and Bishnupur, three from Churachandpur, two each from Jiribam and Thoubal and one from Kakching.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 150 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,16,803. The recovery rate is 96.63 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 2,216 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 928 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  260 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 17,13,895 (first dose: 12,24,668  second dose: 4,89,227).

According to the release, there are 451 vacant general beds and 113 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur. 

In CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 59 vacant general beds and 41 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 77 vacant general beds and 21 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 197 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 43 general beds and 10 ICU/HDU beds.
