Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 2021 paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and called upon all to remember the Father of the Nation, "who shook the world in a gentle way".

The chief minister paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 152nd birth anniversary at Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi along with party leaders.

"Paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi Ji on his 152nd birth anniversary at Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi along with party leaders. On this #GandhiJayanti , let’s remember the Mahatma who shook the world in a gentle way," Biren said in a Twitter post on Saturday.

Mahatma Gandhi, whose orginal name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar. He was assassinated on January 30, 1948.

Citizens observed the day with a cleanliness drive carried out in severals parts of the country.
