2009 Krishnadas Murder Case: Plea to pass production warrant against accused Kh Naobicha

The accused is now under judicial custody at Delhi district jail under NIA case. The CJM, Imphal West granted the prayer of producing warrant against Khumanthem Naobicha next Friday.

The investigation officer of the abduction and murder case of Yengkhom Krishnadas in 2009, after a span of 12 years, has approached the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Imphal West to pass a production warrant against Khumanthem Naobicha alias Ningamba, son of Kh Mani Singh of Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi Thokchom Leikai.

The accused is now under judicial custody at Delhi district jail under NIA case. The CJM, Imphal West granted the prayer of producing warrant against Khumanthem Naobicha next Friday.

In June 10, 2009 a complainant Keisham Gopal Singh son of (L) K Babu Singh of Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai, lodged a complaint to the OC of Imphal Police Station, alleging that on that day at 10 pm, some unidentified armed persons numbering about four-five persons came to his house and abducted his son-in-law Yengkhom Krishnadas, 42, son of (L) Ballop Singh of Kakching Sumang Leikai.

The armed persons fired one round and took his son in law towards Sanakeithel in a white Maruti Van. Accordingly, a regular case was registered at Imphal Police Station and investigated into.

It was revealed during the investigation that the abduction was for ransom.

The body of the victim, Krishnadas was found at Lilong Chingjao on June 12, 2009 and a regular case was registered at Lilong Police station.

Md Amir Ahamed alias Phajaba ,23, son of (L) Md Maniruddin of Lilong Sambrukhong; Md Atao Rahman alis Atao ,30, son of Md Allauddin of Lilong Sambrukhong Lontara were arrested on August 23, 2013 in connection with the case.

During interrogation, Amir had admitted to have committed along with his associates, the abduction of late Y Krishnadas. He disclosed that he was earlier arrested by police for being a member of banned outfit People’s United Liberation Front (PULF) and lodged in Central Jail, Sajiwa.

During judicial custody, he came in contact with one inmate Elangbam Amu alias Omorjit 22, son of (L) E Khomdon Singh of Khangabok Naorem Leikai at present residing at Khangabok Lamlong Bazar.  In March 2009, he was released on bail from Jail after completion of NSA detention period.

Probably on 7 in 2009, accused Elangbam Amu who was a self-styled fund raiser of KCP (Nando) contacted him over mobile phone, informing that there is one important mission to be executed and asked him to come at the then 39 AR post at Chingmeirong.

Then, he contact one Atao Rahman alias Sabir Ahamed , about 29, son of Md Allauddin of Lilong Sambrukhong Loutara (earlier PULF M/Khan activist and later PULF-PM Akbar) to accompany him up to Chingmeirong to meet Amu.

On June 9, 2009 he and Atao Rahman went to Chingmeirong and contacted Amu over the phone.  Then, accused Amu sent one unarmed sepoy in Assam Rifles uniform and he guided them to 39 AR camp located at Chingmeirong.

On the same day, major D Sreeramkumar of the 39 AR post and Amu proposed that they join in the abduction of Yengkhom Krishnadas. Accordingly, Major D Sreeramkumar briefed about the modus operandi of the mission.

Further, Md Amir Ahamad disclosed that in the morning on June 10, 2009 as instructed by Amu and Major D Sreeramkumar, he himself including  Atao Rahman , Naobicha and M Rahul from Moreh went to Thangal Bazar in a white Maruti Van which was already at 39 AR post as driven by  Naobicha to abduct Y Krishnadas but it in vain.

Again in the same day at around 9 pm, they Md Amir Ahamed, Atao  and Naobicha and Rahul from Moreh, with Boy from Nagamapal and Khagemba Sharma alias Tombi went at Thangmeiband Khomdram Sellungba Leikai to abduct Y Krishnadas in a white Maruti Van which was driven by Naobicha and major D Sreeramkumar followed them along with his team in full uniform in their official Gypsy giving security coverage.

During the process of abduction, accused Md Amir Ahamed carried a Rambo Knife while Rahul and Md Atao Rahman carried one pistol  each which were handed over to them by Amu at the 39 AR Camp itself.

On further interrogation, he disclosed that (excluding Major D Sreeramkumar ) entered the house of Y Krishnadas and dragged him out from his bed which was located on the 1st floor by Naobicha.
During the scuffle with Y Krishnadas, accused Md Atao Rahman shot one round at the knee of Krishnadas and within a few minutes, his associates pull out Krishnadas and pushed into the van and proceeded toward 39 AR post, Chingmeirong followed at a far distance by major D Sreeramkumar instructed them to carry away the victim to Lilong and further told him alone to retire at his room/barrack.

Then after, the rest of them (his associates) move away from the camp in the white Maruti van along with the abductee.

At present, Naobicha alias khumanthem Naobicha son of Kh Mani Singh of Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi Thokchom Leikai and found that he was arrested in c/w FIR No. 62/2017 dated 14.8.2017 U/S 18 & 20 of UA(P) Act, PS Special Cell (SB) Delhi as RC-15/2017/NIA/DLI U/S 18 & 20 of UA(P) Act on dated 1/11/2017.

The NIA case has been chargesheet against him and others on February 8, 2018 and he is presently lodged in Judicial Custody at District Jail No. – 10, Rohini, Delhi.

Hence, the investigating officer of the case prayed that his arrest is extremely important and with the effect of his arrest the case would be crystal clear and would be able to form charges against every accused person.
