World Heart Day observed in Thoubal

As a part of observance of World Heart Day, a screening camp was also held at UPHC Phouden. Overall, 30 patients were screened for ECG, Blood Sugar, HTN, Lipid Profile.

The NCD Cell, District Health Society, Thoubal observed the World Heart Day at Urban Primary Health Centre, Phouden under the theme Use Heart to connect with every heart on Wednesday.

The inaugural programme was attended by chief medical officer, Thoubal Dr Y Nokul Singh; MO in Charge, UPHC Phouden Dr M Rakhesh Meetei; district programme manager, DHS, Thoubal Ch Basanta Singh as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.

As a part of the programme Dr Nokul flagged off the Walkathon in which the health staffs, ASHAs and localities took part. The team walked in and around the Phouden village with a message for good health and a healthy heart for every human being. 

At the occasion, Dr  Nokul Singh explained the importance of observing the day is to spread awareness about the heart diseases among the people and how they can overcome and cure and prevent them.

He appealed to the participants to keep their blood pressure, cholesterol in control and maintain a healthy weight, eat a healthy diet, do regular exercise, to get enough sleep and to skip from smoking as well as alcohol.

As a part of observance of World Heart Day, a screening camp was also held at UPHC Phouden. Overall, 30 patients were screened for ECG, Blood Sugar, HTN, Lipid Profile. Among them, four patients were found to be diabetic, two were found to have HTN, three were diagnosed with heart problems and one had high lipid profile and they have been advised for further treatment at NCD Clinic Thoubal.
