Manipur logs 210 new COVID-19 positive cases, two deaths

As many as 210 persons, including four Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur in a span of 24 hours, while two more persons died due to the infection during the same period, according to the latest update by the state health department.

The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Manipur on Wednesday reached 1,20,426, including 1,854 deaths and 2,207 active cases.

As per the update a total of 2,794 test results were received on Wednesday, of which 210 samples were found positive for COVID-19. The positivity rate is 7.5 per cent.

Imphal West, the worst-hit district in the state, reported 105 new COVID-19 positive cases and one death, while Imphal East reported 49 new positive cases and one death. The other new COVID-19 positive cases included 18 from Ukhrul (14 from the general population and four CAPF personnel), 13 from Churachandpur, seven from Bishnupur, six from Kakching, three from Chandel, two each from Kamjong, Senapati, Tengnoupal and Thoubal, and one from Noney, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

Of the two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday, one had comorbidities; one was vaccinated with the first dose while the other was vaccinated with both doses, as per the release.

The state also recorded 144 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,16,365. The recovery rate is 96.63 per cent, the release added.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,115 D-type oxygen cylinders and  353 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 16,89,917 (first dose: 12,21,557 and second dose: 4,68,360).

According to the release, there are 449 vacant general beds and 109 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.

In CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 29 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 9436807346/7005125158) there are 60 vacant general beds and 37 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 74 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 198 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8837342526) there are 43 general beds and nine ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
