The proposed statewide 24-hour total bandh call from September 29 midnight to September 30 midnight announced by the JAC Against the Brutal Murder of Athuan Abonmai, former president, Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam-Manipur-Nagaland), has been deferred until further notice.
Demanding justice, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) on September 25 issued the statewide total bandh call and road blockades on National Highway 29 and National Highway 37.
However, the JAC stated in a release issued on September 28 its decision to defer the bandh call in view of the 125th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
The JAC stated in its release that the decision was taken as requested by the Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) and Lamyanba Irabot Ningsing Thouram Observation Committee in order to pay tribute to Lamyanba Hijam Irabot on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary.
The JAC was formed following the brutal murder of Athuan Abonmai hours after he was abducted from Apollo Ground, Tamenglong HQ, in broad daylight on September 22. The former ZB president was also the advisor for the organisation.
