Regarded as a pioneer event in the State, a long-distance bicycle ride known as ‘Brevet Populaire for 100 km’ was organised on Sunday by Imphal Randonneurs, a division of Manipur Adventure and Mountain Bikers Association (MAAMBA). It was held under the aegis of Audex India Randonneurs and Audixien Clun Parisien (ACP), Paris
A release stated that altogether 14 riders including two females took part in the ride from the main gate of Kangla to Bonyang village and back along the Trans Asian Highway-1.
Dennis Phuritsabam, who recently completed the 200-km Brevet de Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRM) at Nasik in June 23, officiated as the designated “Ride Responsible” for the 100 km Brevet Populaire, it said while mentioning that the 100 km and 150 km Brevet Populaire have been recently introduced to promote Randonneuring.
ACP is the international body for Randonneuring that administers and oversees the conducts of BRMs worldwide, it added.
