Need to overcome trust deficit among people: Biswajit

Thongam Biswajit Singh, minister for RD & PR, Public Works, IPR, Administrative Reforms, Power, Commerce and Industries yesterday inaugurated the 30th Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong General Conference cum Sports Meet at AS Khathing Memorial Ground, Tashar village, Ukhrul district.

Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function, Biswajit encouraged unity among the people and said to bring a developed and peaceful society collectively, adding that hills and valley together make one Manipur.

He said the effort of the TKS in organising such event, which encourages understanding and unity among the people is laudable.

Biswajit observed that differences among the people are created in our minds. Elaborating further that everyone is same and are all human beings, he urged the people to build trust among one another.

The minister further stressed on the need to overcome the trust deficit and misunderstandings among the people. He further encouraged the youth participating in the sports meet saying their strength will come with determination and a strong will.

He said the youth is the future of the society and continued that for a better tomorrow we need a strong youth brigade.

Minister Biswajit further observed that the present State government was formed by the mandate of the public and that it will neither neglect nor ignore the wishes of the people.

Further observing that everyone has been assigned a task to bring positive changes in the society, he said people should not forget their own responsibilities towards this end.

The minister also said he has received memorandums on different demands and that he will act on them according to the portfolios assigned to him. He said he will not assure any particular project, but he will only hand over the project after it is completed.

Biswajit further assured to look into electrification of all villages and construction of houses for the homeless. He urged village authorities concerned to send proposals for the construction of houses for the intended beneficiaries under the Housing for All scheme.

Parliamentary secretary, PHED and Printing & Stationary ER Leishiyo Keishing, who also attended the function handed Rs One Lakh to TKS and Rs 50,000 to Tashar Katamnao Long.

The sports meet, organised by the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong and hosted by the Tashar Katamnao Long, is being taken part by 10 units of the TKS, which will go on till April 26.
