Library project foundation stone laid at Saikul

KANGPOKPI | Apr 20

A Library project foundation stone was laid on April 19 at Saikul Hill Town, Saikul Sub-division in Kangpokpi district, which is notably the first of its kind in the area.

The foundation of Library Project of the Committee Alumni Initiatives of Model English Hr Sec School, Saikul was laid by the local MLA Yamthong Haokip in the presence of ADC Sadar Hills member Thongjalun Mat and Thangkam Lupheng, Saikul Hill Town Committee, CSOs of Saikul and alumni of Model English Hr Sec School and library project secretary Haokhosat Chongloi and convener Thangjang Misao.

Rev L James invoked blessing prayer after the local MLA laid the foundation of the library project.

Yamthong Haokip stressed the importance of library particularly among the rural youths and stated that the library is a store house of knowledge and centre of the intellectuals having wholesome effect over the social activities, lifestyle and manners of the youths.

He also pointed out about the old and out-dated books which are unsuitable and urged the committee alumni initiatives to upgrade with new books to maintain a good library.
