Smile Train ready to bring more smiles

An awareness programme on Cleft Lip and Palate was jointly organised by district Administration, Kangpokpi and Smile Train Shija Cleft Project at DC Conference Hall, Kangpokpi in connection with the Cleft Week observation.
The Cleft Week observation imparted awareness among Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) workers and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel during the past two days after it was successfully launched on April 17 and the another awareness programme was organised today among ASHAs and Anganwadi workers at Kangpokpi in collaboration with the District Administration, and operation of patients and counselling will be executed in the next three days.
Dr Surchandra Singh, chief medical officer, Kangpokpi district and T Ranjit Singh, deputy commissioner, Kangpokpi highlighted some importance of the observation and the necessity on the part of the general public more particularly the ASHAs and Anganwadi workers in identifying Cleft lip and Palate people in the district for the free medical treatment provided by Smile Train Shija Cleft Project.
Dr Palin, Smile Train partner plastic surgeon, who is also the chairman and managing director of Shija Hospital, Imphal stressed the aims and motive of the Smile Train Shija Cleft Project and conveyed his enthusiasm to extend a thousand smiles in the newly created Kangpokpi district under the project.
He further asked the ASHA workers and the other participants to spread the awareness on the project and be a pool of resources in eradicating Cleft disorders in the district.
