26440 candidates to sit for XII exams today

Altogether 26,440 students are set to appear in the Higher Secondary Examination 2017 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) from tomorrow.
The examination to be conducted in 90 centres spread across the state will conclude on April 21.
In a statement COHSEM secretary, Dr Maisnam Bidyasagar said that out of the total 26,440 candidates 13603 are male candidates and 12837 are female candidates from 160 institutions affiliated to the council.
They will be appearing in Arts, Science and Commerce streams (6463, 19404 and 573 candidates respectively).
Giving district wise allocation it said that there are eight centres in Bishnupur, four each in Chandel and Churachandpur, 11 in Imphal East, 24 in Imphal West, two in Jiribam, four in Kakching, six in Kangpokpi, two in Noney, six in Senapati, two in Tamenglong, 14 in Thoubal and three in Ukhrul.
As the higher secondary examination is an important turning point in a students’ career and in making their future bright, all the stakeholders, parents, CSOs, students’ organization are requested to extend their co-operation and support in all the endeavours, innovations and reforms being taken up by the council for the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, it said.
