Cyber offender nabbed

IMPHAL | Feb 16

Security forces have reportedly arrested a cyber criminal, four alleged active members of NSCN (IM) and an alleged active member of PLA during different counter insurgency operations conducted on February 13, 14 and 16.

A release said, today, following a complaint lodged at Singjamei police station, a team of Cyber Crime Unit, Imphal West district police led SI K Abhijit under the supervision of Additional SP (Ops) of Imphal West S Ibomcha Singh nabbed a cyber criminal from his residence who has been uploading nude pictures of one girl in Instagram and Whatsapp.

He has been identified as Jimjackson Samurailatpam, 35, son of S Krishnakumar Sharma of Singjamei Chingamakha Phuramakhong, Imphal West.

He has been handed over to Singjamei police station for necessary legal action, it said.

Meanwhile on February 13 at around 12.00 noon, following a tip-off, a combined team of Thoubal and Bishnupur district police commandos conducted frisking and checking of all the vehicles coming from Nungba at NH-37 near Balongdai village and arrested four alleged active members of NSCN (IM), said the release.

They have been identified as Pheigajei Gangmei, 32, son of Guigoungam Gangmei of Balongdai village holding the rank of self-styled Leacy, Thuankimlak Kamei, 30, son of Jakhuan Kamei of Riganluang village Nungba part-IV holding the rank of self-styled  Khapur, Dingaklung Gangmei, 27, son of Namjaolung Gangmei of Balongdai village holding the rank of self-styled Khapur and Johny Kamei, 39, son of Gongturei Kamei of Nungba Bazar holding the rank of self-styled regional security in- charge of NSCN(IM), according to the release.

While on February 14 at around 9.05 am a team of Imphal West district police commandos arrested an alleged active member of PLA organisation from Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai area. He has been identified as Yumnam Suren Singh alias Surendra, 64, son of (L) Y Purno Singh of Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai, it added.
