3 NSCN (IM) cadres arrested with arms

IMPHAL | Jan 11

Thoubal police commando teams today launched a series of operations in different parts of the district and arrested three NSCN (IM) cadres including one deputy secretary and former cadres with arms.

Police said the commandos conducted an operation at Tuisem village in the morning. Seven persons were picked up for verification including three ex-cadres of NSCN(IM).

Four SSBL guns including one unauthorised gun were recovered from the same area.

In another operation at Khangshim village at around 7.20 am commandos arrested one NSCN (IM) cadre namely Ashang Hongsha, aged 42, son of H. Khongsha of Khangshim village.

He is a self styled captain holding the charge of deputy secretary of NSCN (IM). One .38 pistol loaded with four live rounds, one mobile phone and wallet containing some documents and two SIM cards were recovered from his possession.

In yet another crackdown, police arrested a sympathiser of NSCN (IM) namely Hongsha Moshel, aged 32, son of Hongsha Khongsel of Khangshim village.

He frequently communicated with cadres of NSCN (IM) stationed at Camp Hebron. One mobile phone having contact list of NSCN-IM cadres was recovered from him.

In a separate operation at Serou quarry area, two NSCN(IM) cadres, who were found collecting money from trucks were arrested by another Thoubal commando team.

They are identified as Bungdon Bingham, aged 29, son of (L) Beti Anal of Tapokpi village, Chakpikarong and Seltun Thohrin Anal, aged 23, son of (L) Seltun Shungjong Anal of Tapokpi village.

One .32 pistol loaded with one live round and Rs 1100 were recovered from BD Ningham.
