Shot dead

IMPHAL | Jan 11

Suspected NSCN-IM cadres reportedly shot dead a former cadre of the rival NSCN-K group at Longmai Noney part-II today at Noney district.

The deceased has been identified as one Abel Gangmei, aged 32, of New Alupur, Cachar.

Sources said that the bullet ridden body of the deceased was recovered from Kadangpunlao about 2km west from Noney bazaar at around 12:30 pm.

It is learnt that he was abducted from his house early morning today by armed men suspected to be rival NSCN-IM and later was shot dead.

Besides bullet wounds, the body suffered bruise marks all over the body indicating signs of torture before being killed.

The bullet ridden body was retrieved by the police along with the help of the local bodies.

A case has been registered by the police in connection with the death.
