MPTCC stages sit-in against demonetisation

IMPHAL| Jan 11

Members of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee (MPTCC) have joined a nationwide protest against digitisation, cashless society, demonetisation and economic blockade today.

Speaking to media persons at the sidelines of the sit-in protest, MPTCC president Kim Gangte maintained that Manipur as well as India as a whole is not ready for so called digitisation and cashless society as people have still a long way to go for making such a society viable.

In a society like ours where a large part of the population is poor and illiterate, technology will only end up harassing people, Kim said, opposing Union government’s decision of launching the demonetisation drive to move the country towards a digitised and cashless society.

Even so called advanced countries like America, Japan, and UK are yet to become cash less societies, the former MP pointed out.

India will need at least 100 to 150 years to become the society that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wishes for, she added.
