Country made carbine recovered

IMPHAL | Jan 11

 A combined team of Bishnupur district police commandos and 25th Assam Rifles, following a tip-off conducted a search operation at the Torbung Bazar area on January 6, 2017 at around 7.30 pm, said a statement issued by the PRO Manipur police.

During the search operation, one motorcycle was seen coming out from the Torbung Bazar Mamang Leikai and stop near the Torbung auto shed and turned off its light, said the statement.

It further said on suspicion, the combined team rushed towards the motorcycle and checked it that is a Bajaj Discover bike bearing registration number MN o1n/3463 and found one country made 9mm carbine machine gun with one magazine inside a polythene bag at the rear of the bike.

While a case has been registered at Moirang police station and further investigation is going on to establish identity of the culprit and ownership of the motor cycle, the release added.
