UTLA cadre apprehended

KANGPOKPI | Jan 11

An active cadre of United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) was reported apprehended by troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion under Senapati Brigade of Red Shield Division with one Pistol and extortion money in an alleged operation carried out on December 28.

A reliable source said that based on specific input regarding presence of an active cadre of UTLA in Phairen of Kangpokpi district, an operation was launched by troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion while adding that as the troops cordoned the suspected area one suspected individual was seen trying to escape from the rear door of the house but was successfully overpowered and apprehended by the troops.

Spot being involved in extortion and nefarious activities in Kangpokpi district on behalf of his organization, it said and added that the operation by the troops of Red Shield division showcases the efforts of security forces towards bringing normalcy to the state.

The apprehended cadre was later handed over to police station along with recovered arms and extortion money for further investigation.
